Of course it's stricter going back to mainly BB rules but the long-term plan will be to relax it over time if everything goes well.

I still think drugs jokes and the occasional innuendo is a bit much. They weren't causing any trouble as far as I have been made aware. But overall, fair rules.

If certain individuals whom-shall-not-be-named had their own way, there wouldn't even be an Open Thread left or if there was one, the rule-set would be more Draconian (there's been discussions about a restricted Open Thread coming into existence for awhile in private chats).

I'm hoping that with at least me making the new one after going through the rule-set with some of the others and then keeping in as much contact with the community as possible, we can get it back to the 2015 styled Open Thread as time goes by with a collaborative and constructive contribution-sphere while also making sure that the Open Thread doesn't end up degenerating into a mess like the last one. The fine detail is of course trying to maintain a balance between rules and freedom without it trying to tip too much into either direction.

I would like to warn you Doom, if you take it any further than this with the Open Thread the Sporum's population will be massively depleted. Over half the users left only come any more for the open thread and the laxness it had.

Although these restrictions are good news for me. New migrations to SS will commence

EDIT: Also I've noticed lately that you've been using your SM account for normal chat. I think you should only use it for official mod posts. If you use it as your everyday account it will intimidate people more than necessary and people will be unable to relate to you.

I've noticed that if you're close and friends with a mod, you will be less inclined to disappoint them. For example, I wouldn't want to do anything bad or go against you and Drew because you're my friends and I value that. But I could go off against Slime in an instant because he hasn't connected with me or the community in any way whatsoever. Same could go for blackbird. I just think that using your SM account for normal conversation might compromise that premise.

Yeah, I'm pretty aware even when we were deciding on the Open Thread rulings over Steam Chat and the Mod Board that there were going to be some unhappy users, but there would also be unhappy users if we took no action to control things further on the other side of the coin per say. It could of been much stricter with the rulings but I stepped in as early as possible to try and make it as balanced as possible. It sucks that us as the moderation team have to do it but after speaking to the others about the general volume of reports and PM's regarding the open thread, we did have to take some form of action.

With Meme Monday in affect at the moment, we'll see how it goes and if it goes smoothly with minimal incident, I'm happy to remove that restriction altogether as a sign of trust. If things stay positive then I can slowly work towards making things less restricted so I can make both the Community and the Mod team happy.

Damn I'm in a balancing game here haha.

Even if more peeps came over here, it just means we have potentially more users available to help us with our game
